Doe Monoprints

Some monoprints exploring a few more of my ideas for "The One Eyed Doe." Im really getting into these, as the style and themes are very similar to my personal work I have been enjoying creating them and working into the project over the holidays... oh and nearly all of my monoprints are done on newsprint now, because it allows me to create much sharper and finer linework :)
I might add in some golden halos...

I got a project from university to illustrate the quote by Kurt Vonnegut "Here’s what I think the truth is: We are all addicts of fossil fuels in a state of denial, about to face cold turkey."

Unfortunately the one week project coincided with when I had a REALLY busy week, so I didn't end up dedicating enough time to it and ended up with something I hated. Over the past week I've been reworking it and developing a few ideas that I initially had. I had several drawings in my sketchbook of a figure manically hacking up an animal, desperately after the fossil fuels they eventually create, although when I tried to develop most of them I wasn't satisfied. So far I have produced these prints which I like, although I am still working on the project:

(Sketchbook page with my drawing that inspired the print above) I don't know if I prefer the image in white?

I also created the following two Monoprints which I was intending on working in two, but now I really like them together as complimentary images. I don't know why exactly, but I really think these two work... maybe something to do with Fossil Fuels being so necessary, maybe 'building blocks' of our society? :s I know I won't use them as my final images, I still like them though :)

I bought some (ridiculously expensive) gold monoprinting ink, so I might have a go at redrawing these in that :)
Any feedback would be appreciated!

The Death of The Doe

Digitally reworked Etching

Printmaking Update

Im due an update (well, a few actually) on how im getting on with my printmaking. I was only briefly in the studio this week, I spent most of my time in the uni library scanning in images and working on photoshopping them. The week before I created lots of Monoprints in a bright orange, which is the main colour I have adopted for my project just because it is so unnatural.

Too Fast Designs

I was Contacted by Too Fast saying that they needed new designs for their hot shorts, so I came up with several ideas for themes and created some mood boards to send over to them. They really liked two of the three ideas and decided to run with them, and in the end bought 8 of my designs... 4 main back designs and 4 smaller motifs for the front. They just wanted the linework, which meant all in all it was completed in two days! A sneak preview of two designs, and a motif at the bottom:

(Im only showing a few as these as they were commissioned and are incomplete, the printed versions will be coloured) Obviously I wanted to go for a classic tattoo inspired feel, which was lovely and refreshing. A lot of my older work used to have this sort of feel, and I find it really easy to draw up, it was nice going back to it :)
